Running with mountain lions since 1983

Former Board Members

Paul King

Vice President

Paul rekindled his love of trail running after joining QRC in 2013. He ran cross country for his high school team, a few marathons in his college days, and dabbled in 10Ks and triathlons in his “later years”. His first experience with an ultra race was photographing the 2014 Quicksilver 100K and was struck by the spirit, camaraderie, and passion of the athletes and instantly knew he wanted to drink what they were drinking. (Only later did he find out that they were drinking beer and drinking heavily.) A year later, he finished in the top 4 of his age group in races ranging from 10K to 50K. In 2016, he attempted his first road marathon in 17 years and qualified for Boston in 2017. He has his sights on completing a 50 miler this summer.

When he’s not lost on the trails or watching his son play in a cold ice hockey rink, Paul helps guide people to enjoy their retirement years through savvy financial planning, healthy lifestyle choices, and prudent investment management as President of King Wealth Planning. He also serves his community through Rotary Club of San Jose and Men’s Division International.

Cecelia Chagoya

Cecelia has been running for 20 years. She ran cross country and track in high school and college. Thereafter, she has been running local races. Her first marathon was in 2005 and first ultra-marathon in 2010. She had an unsuccessful first 100 mile attempt last year, but may try again in a few years. It's a bucket list item she'd like to check off! Currently, Cecelia enjoys running fun 10k's and taking her dog, Dharma on Sunday hikes.

John Brooks

Director of Races, RD Quicksilver 50K/100K

John has more than 40 years of endurance racing experience, including Nordic Ski, swimming, biking, triathlon and ultra-triathlon, trail and ultra-running.  His fast days are long behind him but he’s still out there.  John is an executive of the USA TODAY Network.  He is also the RD for Pacific Coast Trail Runs, in addition to QS100.  He spends his remaining time volunteering and supporting other ultra events and race directors.
